High School Students
High school students are undergoing a transition from adolescence to adulthood. They are in the process of growing both emotionally and physically. They are expected to act like adult in their new bodies, but in many instances are still children. We, as adults and teachers, are able to discern the root of problems and offer suggestions for success. Do students need to be left on their own, or do we help, and if so, how do we help?
This age student can need help with academics, college prep, social issues, time management, organizational skills, and study skills. They are given a plethora of work and short periods of time in which to do it. They need help prioritizing! Will they listen to parents? Maybe not. Will they hear what professionals have to say? Probably yes.
1. College Prep
Getting to college can be fraught with stress, errors, and fear. MindLaunch uses a road map to help students (and their parents) get through this process with as few scars as possible. Our college counselors will help by treating your family with the utmost respect. You will learn what you need to make education decisions. MindLaunch will be there for students and families through the entire process.
NOTE: We recommend 8 hours of review before these tests in middle May. See Standardized Test Prep.
2. Tutoring – AP Courses
The AP courses are college level courses and therefore the instruction needs to be different. Our teachers are the people who teach the in-school classes and have been certified by College Board. They know the material, they know the tests, and they know how to help students succeed. The writing needed for AP classes is different than what is needed in regular and honors classes. As an example, students in history AP classes need to learn to write DBQs.
3. Student-Overall-Support (S.O.S.)
MindLaunch specializes in a total S.O.S. program that is designed to help any student reach new levels of academic excellence. This complete academic support system, tailored to the needs of each student, can benefit the gifted student, the student with A.D.D., the student who needs remediation, or the student who is just not working up to potential.
The S.O.S. program includes: study skills, organizational skills, homework help, confidence building, time management skills, test taking skills, math skills and writing skills.
